5 Things I Wish I Had Known About Being A Webcam Model

If you’re reading this, chances are you’re contemplating becoming a webcam model and I want to prepare you for the journey ahead of you as much as possible because I never had this cheat sheet but thankfully you have me so here goes.

1) You have to fake confidence - a lot, especially when you’re just starting out. Unless you’re one of those really lucky girls with very high self esteem, surviving in the webcam modeling world requires a major dose of confidence and if you don’t have it, you have to fake it until you get it. Also, don’t bring your shitty attitude to work because clients come to you expecting to escape from their issues and the last thing they need is a model with a shitty attitude.

2) You can block out your hometown. Most parents will tell you they work hard to raise up girls who don’t end up on the stripper pole - or for the sake of this article, stripping on the web for cash so naturally most webcam models aren’t so keen to reveal to their kin what exactly they do for work. If you’re a model who wants to be discreet about her work, there are tools in place to black out certain countries and cities so your secret is safe and your folks and friends remain in the dark about exactly what you do for a living.

3) The client really is your boss. Truer words have never been spoken. Just like in a retail store where the customer is essentially the boss, your client -especially in your private room- is your boss. This may be your show but he is running it. He’s the director and whatever he says goes and your only job is to make sure his needs are met and he leaves your room completely satisfied and with empty balls!

4) Sometimes you have to do things you never thought you’d ever do. Because the client is calling the shots, sometimes he’ll want you to do things you’ve never imagined you’d be doing. You’ll come across a true freak who wants you to dress a certain way or say certain things that all may be new to you but remember points number 3 and number 1 above, the client is the boss and he gets to have his way and if you fake your confidence and do such a good job at whatever freaky thing he wants, you may just get a big tip out of it.

5) It’s a marathon not a sprint and the money won’t always make you happy. Most girls waltz into webcamming believing they are going to get rich overnight. The bad news is that is never the case. You will not get rich overnight. You probably won’t get rich three months into your webcamming gig but the good news is if you work really hard to build a decent client list, you will make a decent amount of money. My first six months as an amateur webcam model, I made a measly $700 total but that is because I wasn’t taking my gig seriously until I looked at what the other models where making and decided right there and then I would become one of the top earners on ChaturbateFreeCams.com. Today, I make a very decent amount of money and I only work three days a week!

Kim Kardashian Posed Nude. Why It’s Nobody’s Business But Kanye West.

If you’re reading this then obviously Kim Kardashian did not #BreakTheInternet like she intended to with a very bold in-your-face photo shoot with famed photographer Jean-Paul Goode that had her exposing her famous bum and everything else to the whole world yet again. I use the word again because we’ve all seen Kim Kardashian’s ample assets before - in her sex tape, in magazines, on TV and especially in the gazillion selfies she posts on her social media pages that somehow always end up on the various blogs.

What we’ve never seen before is the backlash that accompanied this particular nude shoot. Everyone from celebrities like Lorde to regular folks quickly pointed out that Kim Kardashian is someone’s mother as if implying that mothers are not supposed to exhibit their naked bodies. As if implying that the second you push a little human being out of your vagina, your sexuality as a woman ceases to exist and you instead become a vagina-covering, non baby-oil-wearing creature who shouldn’t have fun celebrating or even enjoying your body.

Now, I’ve never been a Kim Kardashian fan but I’ll defend her here because I truly believe that women should celebrate their bodies, especially after giving birth and if they choose to celebrate their bodies by posing nude in magazines then so be it. I love the fact that this photo shoot is like a big F YOU to all the people who called her fat when she was pregnant. I like the fact that even though a ton of photoshop was obviously used on her pictures, she still looked really good and I like the fact that she got the attention she especially craved especially from her husband whose simple public response to her oiled-up naked butt thrust out at the world was “#ALLDAY”. So there you have it folks, you’re not married to Kim Kardashian so your opinion of her Paper Magazine nude photo shoot doesn’t matter. The only opinion that matters is Kanye West’s and he obviously approves of it and as for everyone concerned about little North West, even if Kim Kardashian allegedly didn’t get paid for this particular photo shoot, I have a feeling she can afford therapy for when her daughter eventually finds these naked pictures of her mom deep down in the google archives, along with her sex tape.

How I Became A Webcam Model

I know there is a lot of stigma attached to being a webcam model so I’m writing this article to show you that there are real, normal people doing this kind of work and we’re really just like you, except our kind of work is probably not something we dreamed we’d end up doing as kids.

What did I want to be as a kid? My seven year old self will tell you I wanted to be an astronaut. And my 15-year old self will tell you I went through a phase where I wanted to be a nurse. My 23-year old will remind you of my lawyer phase and the woman I am today will tell you that on any given day I am any of these things because I ended up being an adult webcam model when I did grow up and the thing is, I actually love my job.

I am what people in the industry call an amateur webcam model and I’ve only been doing this for about 8 months now but I’m hooked. I started accidentally because I stumbled across JobOnCam.com one night while desperately searching for a job. I caught wind of a rumor at my retail work place suggesting I was going to be laid off. Things had been super slow at work and since I was the last person hired I knew when laying-off time came, I would be the first to go so I hit the net with nothing but hope just trying to find any open position and when that site turned up in my google results, I looked out of curiosity then I thought why not give it a go and so I did.
The first night was uneventful. I wasn’t comfortable getting completely naked so I wore my bikini and I flirted with about 7 or 8 men in that three hour period. I made all of nine bucks in tips but I was hooked and even though that first week was nerve wrecking, I grew bolder by the day and I became a little less shy about performing on cam. I also quickly learned a few tips and tricks from my own customers - they would tell me what they wanted and sometimes they wanted me to be a nurse or that one older man who wanted me to pretend to be his personal astronaut and read him updates from NASA but my favorites are people who come into my room just looking for a friend and a shrink of sorts - those clients are the real reason I love my job as a webcam girl. The fact that they are some of the big tippers is a bonus!
