Difference Between A Legitimate Webcam Company And A Dodgy Webcam Company

This particular blog update is for all the webcam newbies or anyone thinking of getting into the webcam business. The question I get all the time is how do you tell the difference between a legitimate webcam company and a dodgy webcam company and the answer is simple - if you have to pay to join a company, that is not a legitimate webcam company. You should never have to reach into your pocket for money just to start working. In fact I'll go as far as to say that the only investment you should have to make is money spent on your personal webcam, your computer and the money you pay for an internet connection. At no point should money exchange hands between you and the webcam company - well, I take that back. Money should not come from you to the company but if you do your job right, the webcam company should be the one sending money your way.

A perfect example of a legitimate webcam company is PayMeCam.com and that's not just because its free to join but also because it clearly lists how payments will be made. This is especially important as you need to know exactly when and how you'll be paid before you sign up with a company and any legitimate webcam company will have this information right on the home page as is the case here.

Additionally, dodgy webcam companies usually have no contact information anywhere on the site while legitimate companies have one or more ways you can get in touch with the folks behind the scenes in case you have any questions or concerns. A legitimate webcam company will usually have a contact form, an email address listed, a skype contact, a phone number or any combination of those communication tools  somewhere on their site.

How To Get Into Webcamming Without Being Scammed

Fact: The internet is full of scammers.
Fact: If you use the internet for anything, chances are you will run into scammers at some point.
Fact: If you empower yourself with knowledge, you will know how to avoid getting scammed.

The sad thing is at some point as you research which webcam company to work for, you'll definitely find some shady companies out there that make you rethink this whole webcamming thing. The good news is that you don't have to fall victim to these shady companies because for every shady company you run into, there are two legit webcam companies doing things the right way out there and you just have to wade through all the shady ones to get to the non-scammy ones. How do you do that?

1.Trust your gut. The old adage of "if it's too good to be true, it probably is" applies here. If you come across a company making claims that seem so far-fetched, run into the opposite direction. For example if a company offers you 99% rev-share, don't believe it, ditch them and don't look back. If on the other hand a company is offering you up to 80% like PayMeCam.com does, then that is reasonable enough and you should proceed with that company.

2. Free to join. A legitimate webcam company will never ask you to pay a fee as part of your registration. Anyone who asks you to do that is trying to scam you so don't fall for it, simply close your browser and head over to a site like PayMeCam.com which is completely free to join. The people who run it understand that you should never have to pay money to make money so they don't charge you a cent - all you have to do is sign up for an account, upload the necessary documents to prove your age and boom, you're in business!

3. Contact information on the website. I don't care how artsy a website is, if it has no way for you to contact the company right on the site without jumping through a thousand and one hoops, then forget about signing with that webcam company. Communication is key in any relationship and especially in a relationship where you expect to get paid, on time every single time. PayMeCam.com has an email address as well as a skype contact right on the home page so you know who to contact if you have any issues.

4. Speaking of getting paid - a webcam company that isn't a scam will have a very clear payment schedule as well as payout options available for you right on the sign up form. You'll get to choose whether you want to get paid via check, direct deposit or via one of the various online payment systems usually available - but you'll always know when and how you get paid.

It is possible to get into the webcam industry without being scammed and all you have to do is just remember the simple points outlined above.

Gay Webcam Model Jobs

Okay, I know what you're thinking - I'm a chick so what in the world qualifies me to talk about gay webcam model jobs but hold your horses and hear me out. I work in the webcam industry so I do meet a whole bunch of people including gay webcam models and yes, some of them have become friends along the way. I got to talking to one of them last night about things from a guy's perspective and it was a very interesting conversation to say the least. Here are a few things I learned from our talk.

1. Guys love being watched too. There is a voyeurism and exhibition aspect to webcam modeling and some dudes are attracted to that. They love to flaunt their bodies - especially if they're spending a lot of time in the gym perfecting those bodies. They want to hear someone tell them their bodies are perfect and that their bulging muscles are sexy and they also especially love when clients compliment them on their packages. I've never met a man who doesn't want to hear that that he has the perfect cock and it's big as heck (even if you're telling him a lie) and male webcam models are no different!

2. Not every man on webcam is gay. You've probably heard of gay for pay and some - not all- male webcam models are purely in it for the money. They know that some gay guys fantasize about hooking up with straight guys so their only job is to turn that fantasy into reality, kind of. They aren't trying to be deceptive in any way and hey, it turns the clients on when they think there is a possibility of turning the straight guy gay.

3. There is lots of money to be made as a gay webcam model. Its a known fact that gay clients have a ton of disposable income because they don't have kids and wives to blow through their cash so who better to spend it on than male webcam models, right? Along with designer outfits and shoes of course! And since there aren't too many gay webcam models to pick from, the few that do exist will always be in high demand!

What Does A Webcam Model Do?

Often times when I meet people and tell them I’m a webcam model, the reaction I get is first utter surprise and then the inevitable question follows - “umm, what exactly does a webcam model do”. Of course they know exactly what a webcam model does but I guess they’re testing to see if I’m bluffing about my career or not. So if you’ve ever wonder what a webcam model does, I’m going to break it down for you in the simplest way possible. This is going to be like a dummy’s guide to what webcam models do.

I do whatever the client wants me to do. There. That is really my big secret. The client is my boss. The client calls the shots. He or she is the director and I’m the girl following the instructions especially in private chat. If my customer wants me to strip, I get naked. If he or she wants me to masturbate, I pull out my toys - yes I have a ton of them - and I let them choose which one they’d rather see me use on myself. They get a thrill out of watching me toying around and I get a thrill out of, well...you get the idea.

Surprisingly, sometimes my customers don’t want me to do anything nasty. Sometimes they simply want someone to talk to. I know most people find this hard to believe but that’s about 20% of my clientele. People who trust me so much that they reveal things to me they would never reveal to even their spouses or family members. Its almost like being in a confessional but I’m the priest. My job is not to judge them but to listen - and occasionally offer advice if and when asked. I had a man once confide in me his fears about becoming a dad for the first time. He had a messed up childhood and feared he’d fuck up any child he brought into this world. His fiancee was three months pregnant at the time and he just wanted to pull a vanishing act on her. I talked him out of abandoning her for almost 2 weeks and kept reassuring him that he wasn’t his dad and he would make a kickass father. Fast forward to almost a year later and guess who pops up in my room? The same guy. We hadn’t chatted for a while and he said he had stopped in to say thank you. Turns out he “man’d up” and did the right thing by sticking with his fiancee throughout the pregnancy and now he enjoys fatherhood so much he knocked her up again already!

My job as a webcam model is so versatile and that is precisely what I love about it so yes, the next time I hear someone ask: What does a webcam model do? My answer will still be the same - “whatever the client wants” and maybe this time I’ll amend it to say “actually, a little bit of this and that but mostly whatever the customer wants”.

5 Things I Wish I Had Known About Being A Webcam Model

If you’re reading this, chances are you’re contemplating becoming a webcam model and I want to prepare you for the journey ahead of you as much as possible because I never had this cheat sheet but thankfully you have me so here goes.

1) You have to fake confidence - a lot, especially when you’re just starting out. Unless you’re one of those really lucky girls with very high self esteem, surviving in the webcam modeling world requires a major dose of confidence and if you don’t have it, you have to fake it until you get it. Also, don’t bring your shitty attitude to work because clients come to you expecting to escape from their issues and the last thing they need is a model with a shitty attitude.

2) You can block out your hometown. Most parents will tell you they work hard to raise up girls who don’t end up on the stripper pole - or for the sake of this article, stripping on the web for cash so naturally most webcam models aren’t so keen to reveal to their kin what exactly they do for work. If you’re a model who wants to be discreet about her work, there are tools in place to black out certain countries and cities so your secret is safe and your folks and friends remain in the dark about exactly what you do for a living.

3) The client really is your boss. Truer words have never been spoken. Just like in a retail store where the customer is essentially the boss, your client -especially in your private room- is your boss. This may be your show but he is running it. He’s the director and whatever he says goes and your only job is to make sure his needs are met and he leaves your room completely satisfied and with empty balls!

4) Sometimes you have to do things you never thought you’d ever do. Because the client is calling the shots, sometimes he’ll want you to do things you’ve never imagined you’d be doing. You’ll come across a true freak who wants you to dress a certain way or say certain things that all may be new to you but remember points number 3 and number 1 above, the client is the boss and he gets to have his way and if you fake your confidence and do such a good job at whatever freaky thing he wants, you may just get a big tip out of it.

5) It’s a marathon not a sprint and the money won’t always make you happy. Most girls waltz into webcamming believing they are going to get rich overnight. The bad news is that is never the case. You will not get rich overnight. You probably won’t get rich three months into your webcamming gig but the good news is if you work really hard to build a decent client list, you will make a decent amount of money. My first six months as an amateur webcam model, I made a measly $700 total but that is because I wasn’t taking my gig seriously until I looked at what the other models where making and decided right there and then I would become one of the top earners on ChaturbateFreeCams.com. Today, I make a very decent amount of money and I only work three days a week!
